Memorial Day Roundup

Memorial Day—day trips are for Google maps, road snacks, Despacito tunes and those that did not plan ahead but still want to get out of Miami for the long weekend.

Whether you are heading further down south, north or even a little west (is West Palm Beach west of Miami?) we’ve got the places you should be eating at.

West Palm Beach

JARDIN
Vibe: Modern American cuisine in a casual patio setting. No need for heels ladies.
What to eat: Menu changes seasonally. When we were there we died for the cauliflower (with maple yogurts, vadouvan cashews & grapes), oven roasted chicken (with herb brioche stuffing, cauliflower purée, mushrooms & confit marble potatoes)

Fort Lauderdale

THAI SPICE
Vibe: laid-back Thai where you can dress up or a tee shirt will do.
What to eat: New York STEAK (a most), green seafood curry, red curry with duck, Thai basil scallop

BURLOCK COAST
Vibe: Located in the Ritz Carlton of Fort Lauderdale. Expect modern seafood, lots of rum & don’t forget to dress chic.
What to eat: BC fish & chips, black grouper, bootleg burger

Lauderhill

GABOSE
Vibe: Casual DIY Korean gem
What to eat: BBQ baby squid, beef tartare with Korean pear, BBQ short rib, japchae noodles

Marathon

BRUTUS SEAFOOD
Vibe: Tiki casual feels serving seafood
What to eat: Fried Mahi bites, conch salad, the Brutus sandwich, shrimp po boy

Key West

SEVEN FISH
Vibe: Put on your Glossier lip gloss and maybe do your hair. Remember that everything in the keys is much more laidback than in Miami so we say you can dress up its not like club scene attire.
What to eat: Crab and shitake mushroom pasta, banana chicken with caramelized walnuts, new york strip steak

DJ’S CLAM SHACK
Vibe: tiny seafood shack with outdoor seating. Dress down for this one.
What to eat: Lobster rolls (nice and creamy), fried clams
