Newly opened BLT Steak is now serving steak tartare tacos!

We have been waiting with great anticipation for the reopening of BLT Steak on Miami Beach. Its new home is at the newly refurbished Iberostar Berkeley Hotel. The new restaurant brought along their Executive Sous Chef, Carlos Torres, who is now the Chef de Cuisine. We finally satisfied our craving for popovers and steak while taking in the airy ambiance of the new location. We enjoyed a sampling of the new menu, which included not only the BLT Steak classics but also a few impressive new additions.

Favorite dishes: Have you ever had steak tartare in a taco? We hadn’t either! This unexpected combination was the best of both worlds: top quality raw steak as finger food. The tartare was perfectly seasoned and the taco shell gave each bite a satisfying crunch. We were treated to four delicious entrees, but our favorite (of course!) was the 22 oz. Bone-in Ribeye.  Cooked to a tender textbook medium rare and served alongside a decadent bone marrow in a traditional skillet, it’s not to be missed. Ordering steak is all about the sides, and we literally ran out of the BBQ Creamed Corn. This wasn’t your traditional steakhouse corn – it was covered in an irresistible barbeque sauce and mixed with yummy bacon bites. No Miami meal is complete without a guava-flavored dessert, and we weren’t disappointed. The creative Guava Cheesecake was sweet and creamy, served with a delicious scoop of gelato.

BLT Steak had been an institution on South Beach for eight years at the Betsy Hotel.  When it closed this Spring, we were eager to see what was next for this beloved Miami steakhouse. The restaurant has reopened for what is proving to be an exciting revamp of not only the space but also the food.
