TASTE | Celebrity Chef Edition 2018
Hyde Beach is bringing a star-studded chef line-up to Celebrity Taste on October 25th including James Beard Award Winner Michael Schwartz, Katsuya Uechi, Makoto Okuwa, Justine Smillie and more. SLS South Beach will transform its backyard into restaurant pop-ups with custom tastings, extravagant cuisine, interactive demonstrations including a live sashimi carving and more. In true Hyde Beach fashion, the after-party will top off the night while guests enjoy cocktails with Miami’s celebrity chefs. Sanguich de Miami now open in Little Havanna

You’re getting a sandwich or a “sanguich” at the new Sanguich shop and café in Little Havana. Simple menu includes your favorite Cuban sandwiches such as pan con bistec, croqueta preparada and the classic Cubano. There’s also a ventanita for all your cortadito needs. If you are in the mood for algo dulce, try the guava and cream cheese batido with Abuela Maria cookie crumble.
New Southern Italian concept, Dōma has opened its doors in Wynwood. Menu items include the Neopolitan fried pizza, Mediterranean beef tartare and tagliolini burrata (pictured above) with local red shrimp lemon and sea bean. Dig into the caprese chocolate almond cake served with vanilla cream for dessert!
New Chino-Peruvian food truck now open at Veza Sur Brewery in Wynwood
Pair your brewski with udon noodles and anticuchos from Veza Sur’s newest food truck collaboration. Brought to you by Suviche Hospitality Group, Chi-fa is bringing Peruvian and Chinese flavors with dishes like the Chifa shrimp (popcorn shrimp, crispy kale, pickled onions, and a secret Chifa sauce). For something sweet, try the Pineapple Express with charred pineapple, beer syrup made with Veza’s latin lager, cinnamon ice cream, and animal cookies. Chi-fa is open from Tuesday-Thurs from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Fri-Sat from 12 pm to 1:00 am and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Take-out and delivery options will be available soon. Taste of Avenue 3
The Avenue 3 initiative is a grass-roots project that aims to transform this 2-block avenue between Flagler and NE 2nd Street into an artsy pedestrian venue where you can dine, shop and enjoy. On Saturday, October 20th evening for Taste of Avenue 3! Come hungry and enjoy bites by CVI.CHE 105, Pollos y Jaras and more local restaurants. There will also be specialty cocktails, live music & performances, plus be among the first to see what’s being planned for revitalizing the two blocks of NE 3rd Ave. Tickets available here.

Olive Oils from Spain

If you’re traveling this month in Miami make sure to stop by the olive oil pop-up. Olive Oils from Spain has partnered with Miami International Airport to launch a month-long pop-up lounge located inside their North Terminal. Try the best olive oils in the world in an itinerant oleo library. The lounge provides consumers with express tastings and information on the categories recognized by the European Union of the different olive oils (Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Olive Oil); uses in the kitchen and varieties (Picual, Hojiblanca, Arbequina and Cornicabra). The specialty lounge is equipped with a relaxation area, kids’ space, and WiFi hotspots. Travelers will be able to enjoy the lounge from 11AM-7PM until October 25.

Dine for the Cure at The Fontainebleau
Three-course, prix-fixe dinner menus priced at $55 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, will be offered throughout October at StripSteak by Michael Mina, Scarpetta by Scott Conant and Hakkasan. Each menu will include an appetizer, entrée, dessert and a glass of rosé. For every dinner ordered, five dollars will be donated to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Estrella Damm Chef’s Choice Experience
Last week we got a first look at Chef’s Choice features original prix fixe menus created by Miami and Broward’s most innovative chefs. Inspired by Estrella Damm beer, each menu includes 2 courses, starring the Mediterranean ingredients gambas and/or tomatoes, paired with 2 Estrella Damm beers—brewed in Barcelona with Mediterranean ingredients since 1876. The menus showcase the chefs’ creativity and versatility. No two menus are alike. Each menu is as unique as its chef. Available from October 1–31, restaurants will set menu prices at $29, $39, or $49. Check out participating restaurants here.
Cantina la 20 has a three-course lunch menu for $25.
This three-course meal can be yours for $25 from Monday – Friday from 12:30 PM – 5 PM at Cantina La 20. Loosen up your pants, Chef Santiago Gomez is putting out dishes with a Mexican twist and fresh ingredients. Our line up includes a Mussel Toast with white wine, garlic and chipotle, The Pappardelle with creamy sweet corn, chipotle and parmesan and the Pistachio Cake with raspberry gel and pistachio ice cream. You can also upgrade your meal with $10 appetizers, $16 entrees, and $6 desserts (upgrades available from their special lunch menu only). Make this a boozy lunch with $5 margaritas or signature cocktails.

Neighborhood: South Beach
Deal: David Grutman’s South of Fifth, 100% plant-based eatery recently launched Taste of Planta, a four-course experience where guests can enjoy select signature dishes from the restaurant’s diverse menu at $55 per person from Sunday through Thursday. Courses include tastings of a rotating selection of unique sushi rolls, Steamed Dumplings, Watermelon Poke, Cauliflower Tots, and the Heart of Palm “Crab” Cake. Guests who experience Taste of Planta also have the option of adding a wine pairing with each course at $24.

Fresh Stone Crabs for Delivery

Stone Crab season is just around the corner and we have a new delivery service in town called Fresh Stone Crabs. Fresh Stone Crabs offer the shellfish for half the price of restaurants, mustard included, and a free key lime pie for an order of 10 pounds or more. Delivery on Miami Beach is free, while shipping all over the state of Florida has a $20 FedEx charge; everywhere else in the USA has a greatly reduced FedEx charge.
