For that friend of yours who collects seashells and is practically one with water, take them to Shelley’s for a fresh experience.
By: Sabrina Pimentel
Location: South Miami
Address: 5845 Sunset Dr. South Miami, FL 33143
Meal type: Dinner & weekend brunch
Cuisine: Seafood and Cocktail Bar
Ambiance: Laid back vibes
Background music: Cool, mellow tunes
What to wear: There’s no pressure here on the dress code. The laid-back, Miami look definitely works.
What to expect: Shelley’s is a hidden gem just waves (or blocks) from Sunset Place. You can expect to feel relaxed and welcomed by their cool staff. If you’re looking for a chill spot with a lax crowd make your way to Shelley’s.
The Menu: Their menu alone leaves an impression and may cause a chuckle or two. Each page includes “shell-like” illustrations with punny jokes. Their cocktail menu has bottled options because they make large batches of specialty cocktails, literally bottle them up and begin a fermentation process for freshness.
What to order
How Stella Got Her Groove Back: Drinking today? Who are we kidding… for this frozen delight you’ll be sippin’ on Wray & Nephew, Ting, Fevergrass, Soursop and Citrus. If you love rum coladas this drink will take your mind to a tropical luau.
Hibiscus Tea Crudo: We started brunch with a light appetizer to share and it’s probably the prettiest dish on the menu. Fresh fish, lychee pearls, crushed pistachio and banana bites floating in Hibiscus Tea actually work deliciously together.
Chicken & Waffles: A brunch classic. Deep fried chicken thighs with warm and fluffy waffles done right. Shelley’s adds house-made fish, caramel maple syrup for an extra punch to a sweet & salty combo. This is a must and perfect if you’re sharing multiple dishes!
Greens. Eggs & Ham: If you’re craving an eggy dish, order 96-hour ham, boomerang ready sunny-side up, cream spinach and feta cheese. The Popeye in you will be pleased with every gooey bite!
Vegan Sticky Bun: Have room for dessert? For all of our vegan lovers, this sticky bun is made with cashew milk and tastes as good as any sticky bun you’ve ever had.
How to score a table: Walk-ins are welcome but you can book a table here. If you’re planning on going with a party of 7 or larger give them a heads up to accommodate you!
