What to expect: This place isn’t about fancy schmancy food – The Taco Stand is to the point and serves up authentic Mexican fare while throwing you a curveball with delicious Tex-Mex style fries. Located in the heart of Wynwood, the restaurant’s cool graffiti and backyard style is obvy fitting to the neighborhood, ideal for pick up after a day at the beach or a good spot to pre-game and load up before a night out.
The Menu: The Taco Stand’s menu is simple. Offering tacos, burritos, guac, quesadillas, churros, and more. For taco purists, you have your classics like carne asada and al pastor, and if you happen to stop by on a meatless Monday – they’ve got tacos de nopal (cactus) and a bean and cheese burritos to satisfy your vegetarian soul. Wash down your meal with a variety of beers and keep it fresh with local-made paletas for dessert.
What to order:
Tacos al pastor
You’d be crazy not to try the classic tacos al pastor at The Taco Stand. They put the right amount of pork snuggled with cebollita, cilantro, and pineapple on a handmade corn tortilla. An order brings two traditionally sized tacos (that means on the smaller side) – we’d order two if you’re feeling hungry. And don’t forget to drench your tacos in their salsitas.
Burrito-lovers, this dish is for you. Comes with grilled angus beef, cheese, guac, tomato, salsa, and sour cream wrapped up in a warm soft tortilla. What makes it different from the rest? Instead of rice, you get fries.
Mar y Tierra Fries
Yep, that’s not a typo – we’re going to recommend you try the fries at a Mexican restaurant. The Taco Stand has combined two of our favorite foods into one totally dope dish consisting of crispy hot French fries, smothered in chipotle sauce, guacamole, and cheese. They’re topped off with tender pieces of Angus steak and grilled shrimp. The serving is huge – so we’re recommending you share this one.
Scoring a Table
Though the restaurant is small, just wait a few minutes in line while you order and a table will clear up any day of the week.
