Are you ready to get a little bit more intimate and a lot more interactive?! The Hungry Post Front Row Experiences are for those looking for an evening that will always include bites and cocktails. It’s a chance to connect with new friends with similar interests, especially when dining out.

We recently hosted our first cocktail-making class with Flor de Caña at La Mar by Gastón Acurio at Mandarin Oriental. On Wednesday, April 26th, Hungries joined us at this amazing Peruvian restaurant for cocktails, food, and a fun and interactive class.

Executive Chef Diego Oka created a delicious menu of Peruvian bites that pair with craft cocktails made with the renowned premium rum brand Flor de Caña. Dishes included Cebiche Chalaco with grouper, shrimp, octopus, sweet potato, choclo, cancha, onions, spicy rocoto leche de tigre; Causa Cangrejo with blue crab, tobiko, avocado, huancaína sauce, cherry tomato; El Arroz Verde with shrimp, octopus, calamari, Peruvian, chicha de jora, kabocha, huancaína sauce, and criolla salad.

Hungries received a welcome Flor de Caña cocktail before the start of the cocktail-making class. While enjoying bites, the talented mixologists taught the soon-to-be cocktail masters how to make delicious Flor de Caña cocktails. Oh, and there was some fire-torching action and a sweet finish with the best sipping rum in the world, a 25-year-old gem from Flor de Caña.

Flor de Caña is an exquisitely smooth aged rum from a 5th-generation family estate since 1890. It’s naturally aged, without artificial ingredients, in bourbon barrels at the base of an active volcano and sustainably crafted, from field to bottle. It was named “Best Rum Producer of the Year” by the IWSC in 2017.

This Front Row Experience included a cocktail class, four Flor de Caña cocktails, and bites by La Mar.
