The Hungry Post hosted a Brunch Club at Maty’s thanks to:

We recently celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month and arepa month with an amazing brunch!

The Hungry Post Brunch Club presented by Harina P.A.N. was a chance to connect with friends, family y nuestra cultura Latina through food and drinks (obvio).

On Sunday, September 15th Hungries joined us at 1 PM as we took over Maty’s in Midtown, one of our favorite Peruvian restaurants in Miami -it’s elevated yet warm and homey and a great spot to feel Latin and proud.

Chef Valerie Chang from Maty’s teamed up with Chef Timon Balloo (The Katherine), Chef Mike Pirolo (Macchialina), Chef Nando Chang (Itamae AO), and Papa Chang (B-Side Sushi) for this one-time-only brunch featuring the most creative arepas made with Harina P.A.N.

These highly recognized chefs, all from different nationalities (some of them who had never made arepas before), came together to pay homage a nuestra cultura with their own interpretation of an arepa. From Italian and Peruvian spins, we had a little bit of everything. Dishes included: Val Chang’s Arepa with pork chicharrón, salsa criolla and rocoto; Timon Balloo’s Arepa with jerk shrimp, avocado and tamarind pickles; Mike Pirolo’s Arepa with crispy eggplant, sesi cream, tomato, and broccoli pesto; Nando Chang’s Arepa with ají de gallina; and Papa Chang’s Arepa with spicy tuna, avocado and crispy garlic. Oh, and of course we had a refreshing welcome cocktail, the Sunday Drink Rum made with sangria and chicha foam; and Flour & Weirdoughs’ Alfajores de postre.

Everyone who attended The Hungry Post Brunch Club got an Harina P.A.N. and The Hungry Post branded tote bag with a branded Harina P.A.N. and The Hungry Post apron; a box of Harina P.A.N. cheese tequeños; The Hungry Post branded hat and sticker; Polar premium beer; and thank you cards.
