A new speakeasy lounge in Miami

Red Rooster's Pool Hall serves craft cocktails and cornbread madeleines

The Pool Hall is Red Rooster’s new speakeasy lounge in Miami.

In December 2020, Red Rooster opened in the former “Clyde Killen’s Pool Hall”. This was the centerpiece of Overtown’s nightlife in the 60s.

Red Rooster hosts live music daily. Taking guests back to the days of Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, and their contemporaries. The restaurant is full of references to the neighborhood. Such as the stairwell covered in nostalgic Overtown memorabilia with a neon sign celebrating the “Harlem of the South” and the ice cream shop housed in a former speakeasy.

At the end of September 2021, Red Rooster debuted The Pool Hall above the restaurant. A new speakeasy lounge in Miami aptly named after the building’s roots. We had a chance to check it out last week. And it is a refreshing alternative to the “sceney” places we often come across in Miami. The lounge, which could comfortably host 150-200 people, is reminiscent of that really cool basement that your friend’s never had. An adults-only refuge. With elegant yet comfortable furniture, a pool table, a flashing sign announcing “old fashion’ but good!”. And, of course, a bar at the end of the room decked out in retro glamour.

We also love the outdoor patio with twinkling lights, oversized couches, and a private veranda ambiance that makes you feel at home. The Pool Hall is now open Thursdays-Saturdays from 9 PM to 3 AM. And is a great spot for a date, to catch up with friends, or to impress out-of-town visitors with something off the beaten path. You can look forward to live bands, world-class DJs, special events. In addition, “light bites” will be served, featuring Red Rooster favorites such as Hot Honey Rooster Nuggets, Chicken and Caviar Chips, and Cornbread Madeleines.
