JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Freelance Food Writer to join our team at The Hungry Post. As a food writer, you will play a crucial role in creating captivating and mouthwatering content for our digital platform, focusing on the vibrant food scene and dining experiences in South Florida.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct thorough research on local restaurants and new restaurants to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
• Craft enticing descriptions and captivating narratives that highlight the flavors, textures, and cultural influences of dishes and dining experiences.
• Create engaging, relatable and informative articles, round-ups, recommendations and features that showcase the food we love and recommend to our readers.
• Collaborate with the content team to brainstorm ideas, pitch, and ensure that the writing aligns with The Hungry Post’s style and tone.
• Attend food-related events, tastings, and interviews with chefs, restaurateurs, and restaurants to gather firsthand information and insights.
• Optimize articles for SEO by incorporating relevant keywords and ensuring content is structured for maximum online visibility.
• Proofread and edit your own work for clarity, coherence, grammar, and spelling accuracy.
• Adhere to deadlines and manage multiple writing assignments concurrently, demonstrating strong time management skills.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a food writer, preferably with published work in reputable publications or digital platforms.
• In-depth knowledge and passion for Miami’s growing food scene, culinary culture, and new restaurants.
• Exceptional writing skills with a unique voice, impeccable grammar, and the ability to captivate readers.
• Ability to incorporate pop-culture references in writing.
• Proficiency in conducting thorough research and extracting key information from various sources.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and the ability to optimize content for search engines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in style, tone, and formatting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with the editorial team.
• A portfolio showcasing your food writing skills, including articles, blog posts, or published works.
• Basic photography skills and an eye for visually appealing food imagery (preferred).
• Flexibility to attend food events and dine out as needed.
