Holiday Wine Guide by Miami Experts

The wines that say, “I know what I’m talking about”

The holiday wine guide by Miami experts that will transform your holidays.

If you’ve grown to love wines as much as we do, then you know it can get tricky out there with the overwhelming variety. You may have experienced moments of slight panic when entering a wine store. What should you get? Are they ripping you off? What if it sucks? What will your friends think?

Relajate, if you’ve felt like this in the past, then this guide is for you. You’ll learn a thing or two about wines and be able to share that appreciation with friends and family members.

We’ve enlisted the help of some of the best sommeliers and tastemakers in Miami when it comes to wine. Together we’ve created a guide for what to drink throughout the holidays and what to buy if you’re gifting someone wine. You can purchase these vinos at local restaurants and wine shops.

Below is our Holiday Wine Guide by Miami Experts! These are their words. So trust us and them.

This wine has a lovely perfume of blueberries and raspberries. It’s medium to full-bodied and has a silky texture with loads of fruit, but not overwhelming. This wine gives immediate drinking pleasure and is super versatile since you can have it with or without food.  This wine pairs amazingly with turkey. Click HERE for more info.

Raventos is a great choice when entertaining a large group, you can easily go through several bottles without having to worry about the cost. Not to be underestimated for its price point, we can guarantee Champagne lovers will be turning their heads. This sparkling comes from one of the leading estates of Catalunya practicing organic and biodynamic viticulture. It’s elegant, smooth, and has a great bouquet of crushed strawberries and flowers. It has become Vinonueva’s go-to sparkling rosé. Click HERE for more info.

You can’t have Krug every day (or maybe you can?) Easily one of the best entry-level Champagnes on the market. Wine: Finca Torremilanos Colección 2016 from Ribera de Duero, Spain
This Tempranillo is bright ruby. Smoke-and spice-accented cherry and black currant aromas, along with subtle floral and camphor flourishes. Sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering juicy dark berry and mocha flavors and a hint of vanilla that emerges. It pairs well with grilled lamb chops or even some Manchego cheese. Bubbly: Jacquart Mosaique Brut NV
As this is a season to celebrate, it’s also the season of bubbles. Jacquart Mosaique Brut NV has a pale yellow color with tints of white gold and a stream of fine bubbles. Aromas of fresh pear, fig, and almond, with hints of orange flower along with richer notes of honey and freshly baked bread. It has a  fruity finish with fresh green apple hints accompanying citrus minerality and brioche. It pairs well with creamy cheeses like Camembert and Brie. Some chilled oysters or even butternut squash and goat cheese ravioli. Click HERE for info.

Wine: Domaine Ozil ‘Gourmandise’
When it comes to getting in the holiday spirit, we like to gravitate more and more towards red wines and rich, flavorful dishes. A glou glou red never disappoints, that’s why we’re totally loving the Domaine Ozil ‘Gourmandise’ right now. It’s exactly the type of wine to kick off the holidays. Juicy and fruity with a touch of spice from that Syrah, this is a great versatile wine to drink on its own or with your holiday meal! Turkey drenched in cranberry sauce, potatoes with melted gruyere, maybe a slice of chocolate pecan pie? You name it! Click HERE for info.

Bubbly: Domaine Montbourgeau Crémant du Jura
We love a good Champagne but let’s face it, sometimes it’s just too expensive. That’s why we are huge fans of cremants, especially ones from Jura like this one! Mineral driven with a creamy chardonnay mouthfeel, this is exactly the type of wine to start your night off with during the holidays. Bonus, it pairs perfectly with any of your favorite appetizers like some lovely goat cheese on toasted nutty bread! Click HERE for info.

Wine: Poderi Cellario Rosso Vasca
Having large format bottles at group dinners or group gatherings is always super fun and a great way to make sure everyone gets to drink enough of the same wine. The Poderi Cellario, a blend of Sangiovese, Dolchetto and Freisa, is the perfect table red wine because it’s light but structured, and juicy with bright acidity, making it a great food wine but also a great wine to drink on its own. I would honestly pair this with almost everything you’d see traditionally on the table, from herbed stuffing anything topped with cranberry sauce. to It also has a flip top enclosure for easy storage if you somehow your group doesn’t finish it! Click HERE for more info.

Bubbly: Clos Lentiscus Sumoll Reserva Blancs de Noirs Brut Nature.
The Clos Lentiscus Sumoll Reserva Blanc de Noirs, is made of 100% Sumoll, a grape indigenous to Cataluyna where the wine is made. It’s slightly smoky with really great minerality and a nice balance of fruit and earthiness, making it super versatile with whatever food might be on the table. This is completely different than what you would expect from Cava, which makes for a fun experience at the table with friends of family. Any white meat like pork or turkey would be a great pairing with this, especially if it’s topped with gravy as the acidity from the wine would cut right through the fat Click HERE for more info.
