What to expect: This isn’t your run of the mill taco shop or bougie South Beach spot. It’s authentic and unique, but what else would you expect from “The Godfather of Mexican street food”, Richard Ampudia. Ampudia wanted Lolo’s to feel like his grandmother Dolores’ house in Mexico and he definitely delivered. The mismatched vintage chairs, the colored tiles, the original posters down to the oversized matador painting…you’ve basically transported yourself to Abuela Lolo’s casita and are sitting down for what you know is going to be a good meal.

The Menu: Lolo’s offers a wide range of inventive dishes that are designed to be taken on the go or as a sit-down meal. Taco about a balanced diet…they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offer a mix of classic Mexican fare. We also love their expansive drink menu…especially the 9+ margarita flavors. Let’s not burrito around the bush, Lolo’s menu is inspiring us to keep the taco food puns going.

What to order: 

Tuna Poke Tostadas: This dish features our favorite T words…Tacos & Tuna (and a side of Tequila). Avocado, lime, chipotle aioli and fresh tuna are placed on a crunchy corn tortilla. This handheld dish brings 2 tostadas so it’s perfect to share…or not.

Sliced Rib Eye Tacos: Two per order and are served on 6” warm corn tortillas. This taco has seared rib eye, crispy cheese (YES, CRISPY CHEESE), onion, and homemade salsa verde. We recommend ordering a few different tacos so you can sample the full taco menu (Pork Carnitas, Spicy Shrimp, Baja Style Fish).

Lolo’s Corn Cake: There’s no truer statement than “saving the best for last” when it comes to this dish. You HAVE TO save room for this delicious dessert—a warm sweet corn cake topped with vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce. Don’t question calories on this one and just dig in…corn is a veggie right?

Off the menu: Don’t forget to ask about all their margarita flavors! Our server lets us know that they have several flavors (ie Jalapeno, Strawberry, Grapefruit) that aren’t on the menu but the barmaster will be happy to make for you. We tried the Jalapeno marg and have been craving it ever since!

How to score a table: Lolo’s takes reservations and walk-ins. If the restaurant is packed, you can always opt to take your food to go!
