Remember when you were eating lunch at your desk? You were following everyone else’s lead and quietly eating a sad little salad.

Working from home these days means you have a little more wiggle room and time to pick up lunch. You’ve got your schedule down and lunch is something you look forward to.

Take a break and drive to these spots to pick up our favorite lunchtime sandwiches right now.

1. SANGUICH DE MIAMI

Everyone in Miami ALWAYS has something to say about their favorite Cuban sandwich. Right now ours is from Sanguich de Miami. A family-owned restaurant on Calle Ocho that has been around since 2015. The roasted mojo pork is marinated for 24 hours, the Sweet City ham is brined for 7-days and the mustard is made in-house.

Sandwich: Cubano (Ham, Lechon, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on Cuban bread)
Address: 2057 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135
Neighborhood: Calle Ocho
Outdoor seating: Limited
Order takeout: HERE

2. STANZIONE 87

If you know Stanzione 87, it’s usually for their Neapolitan style pizza. However, during the pandemic, they launched their sub-menu that we’re honestly so grateful for. Their subs are chunky, generously meaty (they do have vegetarian options) full of flavor and come in a sesame hero, ciabatta or wood-fired bread. Our second favorite is The Morty with mortadella, provolone, pistachio pesto, banana peppers, a zesty house, arugula and ciabatta. We still need to try the Meatball Hero with salsa verde.

Sandwich: The Stanzione (Prosciutto cotto, sopressata, homemade mozzarella, zesty sauce, Stanzione hot sauce, onion, tomato, lettuce, Stanzione dressing on a sesame hero)
Address: 87 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33133
Neighborhood: Brickell
Outdoor seating: Limited
Order takeout: HERE

3. FLOUR & WEIRDOUGHS

In the guide to Our Favorite New Restaurants and Dishes of 2020, we spoke about this tasty and minimal-ingredient Caprese sandwich from this new bakery in Key Biscayne. The secret ingredient here is their sourdough baguette milled-in-house. The tangy flavors of their Masa Madre bread complete the flavors of the arugula, tomato, olive oil and Mozzarella di Bufala.

Sandwich: Caprese (arugula, tomato, olive oil and  Mozzarella di Bufala)
Address: 19 Harbor Dr, Key Biscayne, FL 33149
Neighborhood: Key Biscayne
Outdoor seating: Yes
Order takeout: HERE

4. TRAN AN

If you love a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich then you must try the OG Banh Mi from Tran An in Little River. They also have a vegan banh mi which is also delicious for those that are sticking to veggies. No matter what you get, you’ll love the vibrant and refreshing flavors of Chef Jon Nguyen’s menu.

Sandwich: OG Banh Mis (homemade thick-cut Vietnamese pork roll, and chili rubbed roast pork in a toasted baguette with country pate, Maggi butter, cucumber, pickled slaw and herbs)
Address: 215 NE 82nd St, Miami, FL 33138
Neighborhood: Little River
Outdoor seating: Yes

5. BABE’S MEAT & COUNTER

It’s not the first time we talk about Babe’s Meat and Counter, nor will it be the last. Babe’s is a neighborhood butcher and a sandwich shop by Melanie and Jason Schoendorfer who started their business at a local farmer’s market. Their shop carries chorizo cantimpalo, wagyu bresaola, speck, veal shanks, prime rib Angus beef and more. They also have a menu of sandwiches to-go for breakfast and lunch.

Our favorite is the Reubenize It with sauerkraut, swiss cheese, 1000 island dressing and the Candian-style pastrami. We also want to shout out their Cuban sandwich that should definitely be on your list.

Sandwich: Reubenize It (Canadian style pastrami on rye with mustard sauerkraut, Swiss cheese & 1000 island dressing)
Address: 9216 SW 156th St, Miami, FL 33157
Neighborhood: Kendall
Order takeout: HERE

6. LA SANDWICHERIE

La Sandwicherie takes us back to our early to mid-twenties. Whether we were in Brickell or in Miami Beach, this was the sandwich that soaked up all the tequila we had been drinking. Now they’ve popped up in other neighborhoods like Coral Gables and Wynwood. Just make sure to order extra cornichons and their French Dijon-based vinaigrette. You can also buy a bottle of their signature vinaigrette to take home.

Sandwich: SOBE Club (turkey, brie, and avocado)
Address: Various locations
Outdoor seating: Depends on location
Order: HERE

7. BOTTA ITALIAN STREET FOOD

Botta is Miami’s Italian Ventanita. Who knew that was even a thing?! This Italian panini shop is located on 79th Street in North Miami. Their menu includes leavened square pizza, lasagnas, bruschettas and panini sandwiches in Sullivan Street focaccia bread. We said it once, and we’ll say it again. Our favorite is the Coppa (cured pork shoulder) with sheep cheese and white truffle but we still need to go back for the Bresaola with goat cheese and arugula.

Sandwich: Cured pork shoulder (Coppa), sheep cheese, white truffle
Address: 860 NE 79th St B, Miami, FL 33138
Neighborhood: Little River
Outdoor seating: Yes

8. BAGEL EMPORIUM & GRILLE

This Coral Gables classic is your usual stop for bagels but have you tried their Rachel on rye? It’s simple but done well. It’s the sort of sandwich that will bring you back to life if you’re really hungry or have a major hangover. You can take it to go, order it for delivery or eat it at their outdoor set up in the parking lot.

Sandwich: Pastrami or Turkey Rachel (Swiss cheese, coleslaw, Russian dressing on grilled rye)
Address: 1238 S Dixie Hwy, Coral Gables, FL 33146
Neighborhood: Coral Gables
Outdoor seating: Yes
Call +1 (305) 666 9519 for takeout or delivery

9. BOIA DE

Boia De is usually our go-to for a date night spot when we’re craving Italian. But on Sunday they have a takeout menu available at 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM via Caviar. It’s a small menu but rest assured that everything is good. Our favorite is the Fried Chicken sandwich but the Muffuletta comes second with Salami Calabrese, soppressata and mortadella on a sourdough roll with spicy giardinerie pickle mix.

Sandwich: La Pollita fried chicken (with pickles, slaw, avocado, and Valentina aioli) *Only available on Sundays for takeout and delivery
Address: 5205 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137
