An Eastern Mediterranean restaurant by the creators of Don Angie is now open.

Bold and bright are the colors of Zou Zou’s. Not only in their dishes but also throughout the space. This new Eastern Mediterranean restaurant by the creators of Don Angie, an Italian favorite in the West Village, has found its home in Manhattan West.

The team behind Zou Zou’s has brought on Chef Madeline Sperling. Her previous experience includes cooking at renowned New York establishments like The NoMad (now closed) and Gramercy Tavern.

At Zou Zou’s and with Juliana Latif by her side, Chef Madeline has created a menu that draws influence from Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan.

The restaurant seats up to 75 guests with views of the open kitchen surrounding a wood-fired hearth where they’re baking bread.

The menu is one that we’d share. It’s divided into different sections that include: bread, dips, salads, raw, mezze, sides, and specialties.

From the bread, we’d go for the fresh-baked Talami (Lebanese focaccia). And dip it in the green Tahini seasoned with cilantro and the whipped ricotta with saffron apricots.

We’re bringing a big group so we can enjoy the large specialty dishes like the Moroccan fried chicken with lemon labneh and the fire-roasted leg of lamb.

We’d also order the mushroom kibbeh with whipped feta, their version of manti with a garlic labneh, and oven-dried tomatoes. Oh and we’re not skipping the crispy latkes with thyme.

Zou Zou’s is currently open for dinner every night from 5 PM – 11 PM. For more information click HERE.
