Bueno, we all know that Cinco de Mayo has grown to be known as a day filled with margaritas, Mexican food and a big old cruda that visits you the following morning. But before the margarita bar-hopping begins, here’s a little history lesson.

Back in May of 1862 when the French invaded Mexico due to unresolved debts. An unlikely turn of events occurred when the undermanned Mexican army defeated the French invaders at the Battle of Puebla. And though Mexico ultimately lost the war, that small but significant battle is what we all celebrate today as Cinco de Mayo. Fun Fact: You can visit the city of Puebla and join in on the celebrations which include reenactments, parades and so much more!

So back to our regularly scheduled programming, we have put together the ultimate Cinco de Mayo margarita guide presented by Hornitos Tequila. That way you and your amigos can party like it’s 1862…or whichever year you prefer!
