Address:DC PIE CO. BRICKELL, Brickell Avenue, Miami, FL, USA
For that friend that is looking for New York-style pizza but can’t be bothered to drive to Miami Beach for some Lucali.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Lucali’s sister restaurant, DC Pie is located in Brickell. The main show is always happening in the middle of the restaurant, where the pizza master is attending to his dough, mozzarella and homemade tomato sauce, made fresh every day. If the conversation is bad at your table, we recommend you get up and just watch pizzas come in and out of the beautiful brick oven in the open kitchen. If the conversation is good you can make your way to Dom’s, DC Pie’s Bar, after your meal. We liked sitting inside but there’s also an outdoor seating area with street view. It’s not Paris or anything but sometimes, you need a little fresh air.
WHAT TO WEAR
We’d wear sneakers and keep it causal cute.
Our take on the menu is pretty much, the same quality and same delicious pies you’ll get at Lucali. If we had to deconstruct the experience all we’d say is that DC Pie’s pizza is crispier and we are totally okay with that. Overall DC Pie’s menu is the same as Lucali’s with the exception of a couple of dishes but more on that later. The menu starts off with the finest toppings you little pizza monsters can imagine from long hots to beef pepperoni, to mushrooms followed by signature salads, baked specials, sides and dessert.
WHAT TO ORDER
You’ll want some greens so keep it fresh with the summer salad with bleu cheese, grapes, and pistachios. This salad can be made vegan upon request.
From the baked specials, we’d go for the eggplant parm, the sweet hot wings with bleu cheese (order extra bleu cheese for dipping) and the meatball parm slider (a DC PIE menu item only). Those homemade, all-angus meatballs between the deliciously toasted ciabatta bread are EVERYTHING.
You’re getting two pies because who are you with just one pie? Nobody. 15″ signature pie with long hots, pepperoni and basil and one with mushrooms.
For dessert order the berry + ricotta calzone with Nutella drizzle. It’s more ricotta than berry but we really liked it.
