Rosie’s outdoor dining is now open to all.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In the historic neighborhood of Overtown Miami, you will find some of the best fried chicken in town at Rosie’s Pop-Up. Rosie’s Pop-Up is located inside of The Copper Door, a chef-driven Bed & Breakfast by partners in business (and in life) Jamila Ross and Chef Akino West.
This pop-up restaurant was never planned. It was what we call an oopsie, a beautiful surprise in the midst of this horrific pandemic.
Jamila and her fiancé Akino jumped into what she calls “hospitality hustler” mode when they realized their rooms weren’t getting booked like before. The concept of staying at a hotel and traveling, in general, would be on hold for the foreseeable future. And with that Rosie’s came to fruition. The menu was available for takeout and now they’ve added outdoor seating.
Attention to every last detail is engraved in the pair. You will notice this from the moment you enter Rosie’s outdoor area. It is one noting and photographing. Designed by talented and local florist Sukii, who created a tropical floral installation for the outdoor dining experience using silk florals such as orchids and bougainvilleas, Rosie’s signature flower.
The presentation of each dish doesn’t fall short from their beautiful entrance either. Everything on the menu comes plated in vintage china purchased by Chef Akino’s mom in Palm Beach. Every piece is unique with pops of colors. The sort of plates we want in our casa. Take us shopping, Katrina (that’s Akino’s mom).
Chef Akino West has worked in some of the best kitchens in Miami including Michael’s Genuine and Ghee by Chef Niven Patel. He also worked at NOMA, one of the world’s best restaurants in Copenhagen. Akino has cooked up a menu that is inviting, provides comfort and executed flawlessly. Chef Akino brings out Southern flavors offering breakfast all-day from Thurs-Mon 9 AM -3 PM and lunch from 11 AM – 3 PM.
If you’re going for breakfast all-day vibes, we’d go for the Chicken & Waffles with crispy hot chicken & powdered vanilla waffles. Just the sweet and savory combination you need.
For a heartier lunch, we’d grab the Chicky Sandwich. This sandwich comes with pickles, lemon aioli, and buffalo sauzzz + spiced yucca chips. The buffalo sauzzz is God’s gift to the world, cleverly prepared with all the spices and juices of the chicken. Pour it, dip your sandwich in it and order some more sauzzz.
We’d also go for the Fish & Grits. It’s a cornmeal-crusted fish with collard green kimchi, tomato gravy and cheddar grits. This is a unique take on a classic fish and grits dish using Korean technique to make Southern collard greens.
For dessert after breakfast or lunch get the Chocolate & Guava Croissant which surprises and balances the flavor combination of guava and chocolate.
As far as beverages go, you’ll need a Chilled Jamaica water. This Hibiscus flower-based “water” will transform your life. You’ll never go back to homemade lemonade or coconut water when looking for something refreshing.

First come, first serve. No reservation needed. Just come soon because Chef Akino will be revamping the pop-up menu and you’ll want to try all of the above before his next delicious move.
COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES
Chef Akino and Jamila take hospitality seriously, especially in times of COVID-19. They provide menus with QR codes in order to keep things contactless as well as, tables spaced out six feet apart.
