The Little River Community is hosting a curbside pop-up event at Lot 6 with Macchialina on Saturday, May 30th from 5 PM- 7 PM. Staten Island, New York, Italian pizza spot Frankie NoNo’s debuts on Miami Beach at the corner of 16th Street on Friday, May 22. Frankie’s offers New York and Calabrese-style pizza now available for takeout and delivery via “Inspired by my hometown and the famed pizzerias in Staten Island, I knew I had to bring a chef down to South Beach, and Chef Frankie was a perfect fit to showcase a true pizzeria experience featuring the freshest ingredients, pies and slices in town,” said Michael Liebowitz, Owner of Frankie NoNo’s.

Executive Chef Frankie Fratto helms the kitchen at Frankie NoNo’s. Raised by an Italian family in Staten Island, Frankie learned how to create bread, homemade pizza sauces and Italian desserts at an early age. With his most recent experience in the kitchen at the famous Joe and Pat’s Pizzeria in Staten Island, Chef Frankie brings his renowned crispy, thin-crust New York-style pizza to Miami Beach.

Frankie’s is available by the slice or full pies with two sizes, small (6 slices) or large (8 slices). Pie base options include plain, vodka, Margherita, pesto, arugula, and buffalo chicken with toppings like pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, ham, anchovies and more. In addition to pizza, Frankie’s offers sandwiches and garlic knots. Prices range from $7 to $24. Starting Tuesday, May 12, Stephen’s Deli – the oldest Jewish-Style deli in Florida (which is part of the Kush Hospitality brand)—will begin offering takeout and delivery (via their website and Doordash). Now, fans who have been dreaming of Stephen’s traditional and non-traditional fare like pastrami, corned beef and Swiss on grilled rye, and matzoh ball soup will be able to enjoy it in the comfort of their own home. All six of Carrot Express’ locations are not only offering takeout and delivery but are also helping out our community. Last month, their team delivered more than 1,000 meals to several hospitals in partnership with Frontline Foods, Cadena and Serving the Frontline. Their meals also reflect the nutritious philosophy while dishes delivered include their signature ‘Teeka Salad’ made with kale, quinoa, avocado, grape tomatoes, alfalfa, bean sprouts, carrots, and cucumber.

Next week, Carrot Express will team up with national financial company Symetra for their new ‘Care and Feeding’ program launching in Miami. Symetra has already started this initiative in states like Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington delivering a total of 4,043 meals to health care professionals. Their goal is to reach 10,000 meals.

Caja Caliente Wynwood Food Truck will be closing, May 5, 2020, it will also be their last day serving up their delicious menu in the Wynwood lot. The City of Miami has been shutting down and/or not renewing permits of businesses/venues that have been practicing with a TUP (Temporary Use Permit). Caja Caliente Wynwood was one of those businesses who were given a TUP in 2016 and the platform to evolve to what is today. The TUP permit is no longer able to be renewed due to the changes the city has made in zoning.

What is in store for the future of Caja Caliente Wynwood

Caja Caliente Wynwood – Will be moving to a brick and mortar location in Midtown, Mika Leon will be disclosing details on this location very soon.

Mika Leon and her mother Lupita will be touring with two food trucks all over the city, these food trucks will also be open for catering at a later date.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, Caja Caliente will be having a farewell social distancing parade with live music outside Caja Caliente Wynwood where the community is invited to wave goodbye to the lot where so many memories were shared, the celebration will begin at 6:00 PM.

Food Rescue US teams up with Alter to feed furloughed hospitality workers

Food Rescue US in partnership with World Central Kitchen is feeding furloughed and laid off hotel and restaurants employees at Alter with Chef Brad Kilgore and his team.  They have raised enough money to pay staff and buy food at their second Community Kitchen inside of Alter. Meals are being distributed at 2 PM  on May 5th, 7th and 9th. It’s first come, first serve; trunk load contactless pick up.
