Miami’s Pizza Guide

Our favorite pizzas for takeout or dine-in

What to order for takeout while watching the Golden Globes

Award season is here and that might not mean anything to you. But think about it like this, it’s an opportunity for a small gathering with your quarantine pod and an excuse to order pizza.

This February 28, at 8 pm join Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (from the comfort of your casa) as they host the 78th Golden Globes on NBC. We know you watched lots of TV this past year. So chances are you’ll probably know what they are talking about.

Here are our pizza recommendations for takeout. You can also skip the Sunday viewing party, head to these pizzerias and dine-in.

This Neapolitan style pizza by husband and wife duo, Franco and Ash Stanzione is located in Brickell. They ferment the pizza dough for at least 72 hours. Pizzas cook in 90 seconds in a wood-burning handmade Stefano Ferrara oven. This neighborhood pizzeria also has a great natural wine program.

Pizza: Margherita (homemade mozzarella, basil, Parmigiano, olive oil) and Mais (cream, corn, homemade mozzarella, basil, parm, olive oil)
Address: 87 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33130
Neighborhood: Brickell

New Yorkers will want to hit up Miami Slice. It’s a New York Style pizza pop-up in Miami operating out of a secret location in Midtown that is only revealed when you place your order. New Yorkers repeat after us: No flop, crispy bottom, one hand slices. It’s like you’re back at home.

Pizza: La Salsera (tomato sauce, vodka sauce, and pesto)
Address: Secret location -revealed only when ordered
Neighborhood: Midtown
Order: HERE

Mister01 has multiple locations throughout Miami including Brickell, Miami Beach and recently opened in Coconut Grove. Their crispy and thin pizza has been a Miami favorite since 2014. They are known for their star-shaped pizzas and our personal favorite, The Claudio. They also add funkier toppings such as coffee, ginger and Italian bottarga for the adventurous eaters.

Pizza: Claudio (Italian tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh burrata stracciatella cheese, with truffle oil, and basil)
Address: Various locations
Order: HERE

The original and famed Lucali is located in Brooklyn, New York. And we’re okay with having the second one in the nation. You’re bringing your New York friends here when they’re missing home. They’ll go and say it’s not the same but trust us this is better than no Lucali. Remind them of the weather in New York right now and say, “Look around… you’re in Miami Beach.”

Pizza: Pepperoni, garlic, and extra cheese
Address: 1930 Bay Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139
Neighborhood: Miami Beach
Order takeout: HERE

Lucali’s sister restaurant, DC Pie is located in Brickell. It has an open kitchen with a brick oven at the center of the restaurant.

It offers the same quality and same delicious pies you’ll get at Lucali. DC Pie’s pizza might be a little crispier than Lucali and we are okay with that. We recommend choosing your toppings that range from long hots to beef pepperoni, to mushrooms. Add a little basil to your 15″  pies and you’re Gucci.

Pizza: Long hots, extra basil, and pepperoni
Address: 1010 Brickell Ave #200, Miami, FL 33131
Neighborhood: Brickell
Order: HERE

This one is filled with nostalgia. We go here for the way it makes us feel. After a long week of work where you feel like a train ran over you, you just need Sir Pizza. The squared, cheesy and crispy pizza will take you back to when you were 15. You’re getting ranch dressing on the side and a crusader blanket. If you know, you know.

Pizza: Half pepperoni, half cheese with ranch dressing on the side
Address: 712 Crandon Blvd, Key Biscayne, FL 33149
Neighborhood: Key Biscayne
Order takeout: HERE

You really want pizza but your better half wants something entirely different. Stop by The Citadel’s food hall. It’s also a great place to work if you’re looking to get away from your WFH situation. And there’s a full bar…

But back to pizza. You’re getting Neapolitan-style pizza from Ash’s Pizza Parlor who happen to be the same owners of Stanzione 87 in Brickell. The doughy and fluffy pizza comes in 10” and 14”. The flavors aren’t the same as the ones in Stanzione 87. We loved the Nancy Sinatra white pizza. If you’re looking for something on the spicy side try the Geronimo with San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, ‘nduja, Calabrian chilies, spicy olive oil, post oven burrata.

Pizza: Nancy Sinatra (cream, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, pecorino, too much garlic, shallots, rosemary, parm, olive oil)
Address: 8300 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33138
Neighborhood: Little River

It had been a minute since we ate at Andiamo and we’re so happy to have re-discovered this wood-fire oven pizzeria. They have an all-outdoor patio setup, with tables spread out.

Pizza sizes include 10”, 14”, and 16”. If you want to do half and half, you’ll have to get large. The ambiance is casual and it’s the type of place you can come with friends, by yourself, with family and we think it would make for a great casual first date with someone that seems super chill and doesn’t care for Miami fuss. They also have a TV screen for games so maybe they’ll stream the Golden Globes.

Pizza: Prosciutto (with arugula, Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, parmesan, basil, and olive oil)
Address: 5600 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33137
Neighborhood: Little Haiti
