Baywood is the place to take your bae for a nice, casual brunch in the MiMo district.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This locally sourced restaurant offers brunch and lunch. You’ll find yourself starting with a classic eggs Benedict. And since the chisme is so good, breakfast will transition into their short rib sandwich and a glass of wine for lunch!
Expect a FOOD COMA! At Baywood, all the dishes are meant to fill you up with non-stop deliciousness. They have all-day brunch, so you know what that means… Bottomless eggs benny! Oh, also bottomless mimosas. In addition to all-day brunch, Baywood has “handhelds” and “salads” in their lunch section, along with necessary coffee & tea options. Baywood also includes some freshly-squeezed juices with no added sugars, just fresh fruits & veggies!
WHAT TO WEAR
Baywood is bright-colored and casual, with teal, yellow and orange highlights throughout the restaurant. Feel free to match the colorful vibe for the summer, or tone it down in neutrals and let the place speak for itself. Comfy and stylish would work best at Baywood, like a flowy romper or a nice shorts/blouse combo.
We already went over the menu but to recap, Baywood’s menu is separated into all-day brunch, lunch, coffee & tea, juices, and a separate drink menu, including their bottomless menu, draft beers, wines, and cocktails. If you’re eyeing all-day brunch, our recommendation is to get the Bottomless Tequila Sunrise Mimosa. This drink takes us back to Spring Break. It comes with prosecco, tequila, grenadine and pineapple juice.
WHAT TO ORDER
Order the Baywood Benedict with truffle creamy spinach, sous vide eggs, and whole-grain mustard hollandaise sauce on the thickest piece of sourdough bread you’ve ever seen. If you’re smart, you’re opting in for the smoked salmon add-on in this case.
If you need a little health kick after the bottomless mimosas, you’ve got to try the Golden Beets Juice, which includes pineapple, ginger, turmeric, lemon and orange. It won’t cancel out the mimosa but with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties you can’t go wrong!
If you’re not on the savory breakfast wavelength, then you’re going with the Belgian Waffle. It’s a plate-sized waffle that is served with smoked maple mascarpone, fresh berries, and fermented blueberry syrup.
Let’s say you’re visiting for lunch instead. Every single item on the lunch menu looks delicious, but we’re going to have to cast our ballot for the Short Rib Sandwich. It’s tasty and filling. It’s sous vide short rib, horseradish vodka aioli, herb salad, pickles, and au jus for dipping. Other notable dishes are their Tacos al Pastor and Vegan Bao Buns (V), and their Brussel Salad (V) from their salad options!
Of course, we’re not leaving out dessert. Baywood’s desserts include the Chocolate Mousse, Brownie with Dulce de Leche, their Baywood Cake, Key Lime Pie, and Strawberry Cheesecake. All of these are 10/10 desserts, but we’d go with the Dulce de Leche Brownie.
All outdoor seating tables are positioned to practice social distancing, and while masks are not required while dining at your table, they are required when leaving your table to use the restroom. Indoor seating is extremely limited, with only a few booth tables inside, with the same rules applying.
The Baywood team is operating under COVID guidelines for now. They are looking to add more seating as more patrons get vaccinated and the CDC releases more recommendations! For now, they are open 8 AM-6 PM every day Tuesday through Sunday and are closed on Mondays.
HOW TO SCORE A TABLE
We recommend calling ahead to make a reservation in case they are at capacity for brunch. Walk-ins are welcomed.
