It is almost that time of year where those of you who haven’t had the chance to explore the Miami food scene get a little special treat. Miami Spice begins August 1st and runs through September 30th, it is the two months of the year where local Miami restaurants and bad ass chefs feature a 3-course meal for either lunch or deal at a steal of a price. At just $28 dollars for lunch and $42 for dinner, you can hop around Miami testing out the spots you have been craving to try.

Now we know that some of you have your anticipated restaurants that join every year, but this year we are giving you hungries our roster of restaurants that we can’t wait to try.

1. RED ROOSTER OVERTOWN

If you are in the mood for some good ole classic comfort food, well then look no further. Chef Marcus Samuelson is giving you a dinner that will have you and your friends licking the plate. Located in the heart of Overtown, Red Rooster celebrates diverse culinary traditions in a community filled with history. And in embracing the family like quality of the area you are getting dishes that make you feel like you are right at home. With dishes like “Chicken Fried” Green Tomatoes, Fried Yard Bird with sour orange spicy honey and a “Yassa” Ribeye steak with sunchoke tostones; if that doesn’t have you booking a reservation then maybe the Viking of the Keys dessert will.

New to the Brickell area is PaperFish, a contemporary Tokyo-inspired Izakaya with masterfully crafted Nikkei cuisine who pride themselves on using the finest seasonal ingredients. For the sushi lovers who pride themselves on knowing all the good spots in Miami, go ahead and put this on your radar. With a little Peruvian flair in dishes like the Nikkei Tataki or the Paper Tuna tartar, you will certainly feel like you were transported out of Miami. And the final showstopper you will be getting to indulge on at the end of your dining experience, a Chocolate lava cake with fresh mixed berries. If that doesn’t have you drooling, then we don’t know what will.

3. MAREA 1939

Located in the National Hotel, Marea 1939 is a dynamic Spanish fare restaurant offering traditional Spanish dishes with a twist. Chef Sergio Chamizo is giving you a highlight of Coastal flavors from Spain in this 3-course dinner offering. If you want to start off nice and light go ahead and choose the Marea Gazpacho, but if you are wanting to really go for the full Spanish dining experience then start off with the Spanish Chorizo. Now between choosing out of three entrée options, such as Branzino, Ribeye or Arroz you will find that no option will steer you wrong. And as always you know dessert holds a sweet spot for us, make sure to try out the Spanish flan. So, grab your friends and take yourself to the beach for an evening filled with a Spanish culinary adventure.

4. PERL BY CHEF IP

If you are in the mood for a nice hearty lunch, Perl by Chef IP is serving you a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine with an influence from Japanese cuisine and local 305 flavors. Before giving us Perl, Chef IP was giving the Miami community at home private chef experiences. He has now brought his loyal following with him to his brick and mortar and is serving you a fine-casual experience in North Miami. So, what should you order for this year during Miami Spice? Start off your lunch with a Perl grilled baby gem salad with candied pecans and a wasabi truffle Caesar dressing. There are two different options for your entrée, you can choose either the Short rib au jus sandwich or the Grilled spiced chicken sandwich. And trust us neither will steer you wrong. And with a simple yet tasteful Olive oil cake option for dessert, you will feel complete.

5. STRAWBERRY MOON

For those of you who haven’t heard of this new contemporary Mediterranean restaurant located in The Goodtime Hotel, well we are here to introduce you. Perfectly capturing the Miami aesthetic, Strawberry Moon is a space filed with lagoon blues, palm greens and deco pinks. And the spice menu is a perfect reflection of this unique hedonistic space. With appetizers stemming from Beets & Watermelon, Kefte meatballs and a Godfather Pide. The excitement from that alone will get you eager for the entrees and dessert to follow. With entrée choices ranging from Swordfish shawarma, Grilled Eggplant and Roasted Chicken; you will find something for everyone at the table. And last but certainly not least a Baklava ice cream sandwich to settle that sweet tooth in this Miami summer.

6. OSTERIA MORINI

Highlighting the soulful cuisine of the Northern Emilia-Romagna region, Osteria Morini is serving you fellow hungries a menu including house-made pastas, seasonal ingredients, and local catch to enjoy this Miami Spice season. Some dishes that you can look forward to choosing are the Carciofi which feature grilled artichokes, mint and Calabrian chili. There is also the Polpio and Tuna Tartare for those who want to start off with some seafood for the night. Now for the pastas you are looking at some delectable options like the Torcia Nero or the Gnocchetti with kale pesto, tomato confit and ricotta salata. And what is a Italian cooked meal without a Tiramisu to finish you off.

If you have been eyeing this new authentic Italian concept by Chef Jose Mendin then you are in luck. Participating this year in Miami Spice diners will get a chance to enjoy the simple pleasures of traditional/contemporary Italian cooking. Starting with choices in the appetizer section between Octopus, Arancini and Polenta. And from the entrée section, a choice of pastas and proteins such as Branzino, Veal Parm or Casarecce. And for dessert a surprise daily selection that you can only find out once you get to end of this fantastic Spice meal. From the former founders of KYU, Chef Michael Lewis and Steven Haigh who have now partnered with restauranter Michael Sponaugle are here with an izakaya concept serving you street food cuisine in high quality fashion. Joining in on the Miami Spice festivities this year you can look forward to coming in for lunch or dinner and trying out an omakase style meal.
