This list has been curated by The Hungry Post for Pride Month and is presented by:

Pride Month is so much more than wearing rainbows and rewatching Birdcage. It’s not just about celebrating those that are out and proud but also about supporting those that don’t have the luxury of coming out and those that don’t feel safe.

We commemorate each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall Riots were the most important events leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States.

Miami Beach has its own rooted course of history, since the 1930’s it has been known as a Mecca for the LGBTQ+ community. It’s one of the few places in the world that has a chamber of commerce for the LGBTQ+ community. And this beautiful community has only grown ever since.

Join the celebration in September with the  Miami Beach Pride Parade. This week-long celebration that received approval back in 2009, has become a staple annual event that brings every neighborhood together to celebrate as a one. And the love and support doesn’t stop there, Wynwood Pride grew as another outlet of support for Miami’s LGBTQ+ community. They strive to create opportunities that bring together Miami’s LGBTQ+ community by promoting LGBTQ+ artists, rights, visibility, advocacy, and education through music, arts, culture and activism. The third annual festival will highlight local businesses, feature live music and more exciting events onn June 18-20th.

We have also put together this guide of the places where you can help contribute to local businesses, but also to a community that deserves the love and support of the world.

These organizations include Pridelines, a local grassroots nonprofit organization whose mission is to, “support, educate and empower South Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth and community in safe and diverse spaces to promote dialogue, wellness, and to foster social change.”

As well as SAVE LGBT with the mission to promote, protect and defend equality for people in South Florida who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

These organizations are stepping-stones in making sure that the LGBTQ+ community does not go unrecognized nor unheard. It’s important to share our support for the LGBTQ+ community not only in June but every day.
